The Katahdin Region extends outward from the base of Mount Katahdin. The mountain is the highest mountain in Maine, and it is also the northern terminus to the Appalachian Trail. In this region, Eastern Maine Electric has Co-op members in Benedicta, Crystal, Dyer Brook, Hersey, Island Falls, Merrill, Moro, Mount Chase, Patten, Sherman, Silver Ridge, and Stacyville.

Those who want to visit Mount Katahdin can enter Baxter State Park through the Matagamon gate, a half an hour's drive past the beautiful EMEC-served village of Mount Chase.

It's also well worth the trip to the Lumbermen's Museum in Patten. (The Lumberman's Museum offers an admission discount to holders of the Co-op Connections Card.) Among the artifacts at the museum is the Lombard Steam Log Hauler seen here:
